The Pen's new arena is coming along nicely. HOK Construction workers are really busting their humps to get this baby moving along. It seems like just yesterday that the first renderings were revealed, then Aug. 14 when the ground was officially broken, and the beat goes on.
Now, most of you guys are probably glued to the 'New Arena cam' that updates at a staggering rate of one image per minute, but if that's too slow for your liking at least you can turn to your imagination. The 2010 season opener will be here before we know it, so what will the Penguins call their new home???
Can't be sure quite yet, but we do know that it will be Consol Energy something or other. For more info, here is the story from KDKA
Comment with your best Consol Energy arena names/nicknames and we'll see what we can do to help it become a reality (maybe or at least help with a few signs).
It's nice to see that the arena name will stay with a local company and Consol Energy has done plenty to make sure we are aware they're a workin company with Pittsburgh styled values...marketing is an amazing perception tool. But seriously, at least it wont be some big out of town corporation who just wants the exposure. Congratulations Consol, you won and your prize...paying millions of $$$!
